Mayor Terry Weitman, along with members of the La Cygne Council received word during their Nov. 7 council meeting that Police Chief Paul Filla would be relinquishing his position, effective Nov. 21, 2012.

Filla, who won the election for county sheriff the previous evening, says that his decision to step down two months before he actually takes office will allow him to enjoy some personal time.
