Following the departure of the Court Clerk and Deputy Clerk and training of replacements, District Court Judge Richard Smith met with the commissioners to report that the time is right to begin exploring remodeling a portion of the court office to accommodate new procedures in records management and public access to those records.
Smith met with the commissioners Monday and said he has been assisted in the employee transition period by Chief Clerk of the 6th Judicial District, Susan Jones. She has a niece who assisted Jones in a drawing of a new office setup, potential materials needed, and a bid list for potential bidders if the county chose to proceed on remodeling – completed for less than $500, or the maximum amount a department head can spend without commissioner approval.
