On Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, Jayhawk USD 346 held the groundbreaking ceremony for the new school additions at Jayhawk Elementary School. Superintendent Royce Powelson addressed the group in attendance, thanking them again for their support in passing the bond issue for the students, and expressed his excitement and gratitude to the crowd.

After the wake of the recent Connecticut shootings, Powelson said he was particularly grateful the bond had passed in 2012, as both the elementary and high school will have completely secure entrances when construction is completed later this year.
