Despite the strong winds that had the flags flying perpendicular to the staff, many people were on hand for the dedication of the Mine Creek battlefield trails, the informational signs that accompany the trails and for the scheduled book signing. Visitors had come from as far away as Topeka, Warrensburg, Mo., and Shawnee, Kan., to participate in the event.
Historic site Administrator Adrian Zink had planned activities for everyone for the Mine Creek Trail Dedication and Spring Kickoff event that was held last Saturday. Events were scheduled to include both the young and the not so young from an educational craft table for the children to an informational booth of native grasses and flowers by the Kansas Native Plant Society.
