It was a perfect fall morning on Friday, Oct. 25. The leaves were turning vivid shades of orange and yellow, and the rising sun was melting the first frost from the native prairie grass. Fifth grade students from La Cygne, Fontana and Parker sat on blankets near the cross memorials at St. Philippine Duchesne Memorial Park listening to Prairie View English 11 instructor and event organizer Christy Nickelson tell the story of the mission.
