Clara E. Rogers, 87, of Mound City, Kan., died Sunday, June 20, 2010, at her home. She was born June 13, 1923, in Vermontville, N.Y., the daughter of Elmer Benton and Grace Eva Cahoon Rogers. Clara graduated from Saranac Lake High School in 1942. She attended college and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology. She worked for a number of years as a private secretary in the radio department of the International Headquarters of the Church of the Nazarene.
Clara moved to Mound City in 1990.
Survivors include a nephew, David Rogers, of Sandy, Utah.
Services were held Monday, June 28, 2010, at the United Methodist Church, Mound City.

Marjorie Lenore Brandow, age 76, of Kansas City, Mo., formerly of La Cygne, Kan., died Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at the Carondolet Manor.
Funeral service was held Sunday, June 27, at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel in La Cygne. The family suggests contributions to Christian Family Services in care of Coffel-Schneider, P.O. Joseph B. “Joe” Porter, 84, of Paola, Kan., formerly of Kansas City, Kan., died Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at his home. His family received friends Sunday at the Porter Funeral Home in Lenexa, Kan. Cremation. In lieu of flowers his family suggests memorial contributions to Hospice of Olathe, 20333 W 151st St, TDB2, Suite 301 Olathe, Kan., or to the La Cygne United Methodist Church Food Pantry, 402 Chestnut, La Cygne, Kan., 66040.
Joe was born Feb. 2, 1926, in Queens, N.Y., and had lived in Kansas City area for over 60 years before moving to the Paola area. He was an Army Veteran of World War II and a 50-year member of the Sheetmetal Workers Union, Local #2. Joe was very proud to have volunteered for the Quindaro Township Fire Department from 1955 to 1968. He most enjoyed stock car racing with his son, Tim, and the time spent with his family. He was a member of White Church Christian Church.
Joe was preceded in death by his son, Bobby Porter; his parents; a brother and two sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, JoAnn Vose Porter of the home; daughter, Barbara (Dean) Duncan, La Cygne; daughter, Lori (Rick) Kuykendall, Black Springs, Ark.; son, Tim (Diana) Porter, Liberty, Mo.; daughter, Teresa Gretencord, Garnett, Kan.; brother, Howard R. (Dorothy) Porter, Kansas City, Kan.; sister, Virginia (Tom) Hatley, Hurst, Texas; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

George H. Ashworth, age 83, of Parker, Kan., died Thursday, June 24, 2010, at the Manor Care in Overland Park, Kan.
Mass of Christian Burial was Monday, June 28, 2010, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Mound City, Kan. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Rosary was recited at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel, Mound City. The family suggests contributions to Heartland Hospice, c/o Coffel-Schneider, Box J, Mound City, Kan., 66056. George Earl Croan, age 72, of Garnett, Kan., passed away on Monday, June 21, 2010, at the Anderson County Long Term Care Facility, Garnett, Kan.
Funeral services were held Thursday, June 24, 2010, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett. Burial followed in the Garnett Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the George Croan Memorial Fund.
