Water rescue training was held last Sunday at the north end of La Cygne Lake with Johnson County, Drexel, Osawatomie, Linn Valley, La Cygne and Linn County Stations 910 and 950 attending. La Cygne Station Chief Jerome Metzner put the event together that trained rescue personnel in several areas including how to stretch a line from bank to bank to shuttle boats back and forth. Approximately 30 people attended the training. According to Fire Chief Doug Barlet, Osawatomie used the training to begin reestablishing their dive rescue team. Barlet said that many of the things they learned can be used on a local level.
