LINN COUNTY - Dean Patterson and Sherri Patterson, who were arrested on Friday, Oct. 2, during a raid on a residence north of Pleasanton, are facing multiple charges in connection with items confiscated during the service of search warrant.

As reported last week, officers from the Linn County Sheriff's Office seized more than 400 marijuana plants, along with a quantity of processed marijuana and various items of paraphernalia.

Since their arrests, the defendants have each been charged with three counts in local courts, including possession with intent to sell or distribute, possession of paraphernalia and

possession of a controlled substance without proper taxation stamps.

In addition, Kansas Department of Revenue charges have been filed against both defendants charging that each owes a delinquent tax on the drugs seized in the amount of $112,682.80 for a total owed of $225,365.60, or what was estimated to be fifty percent of the value of the drugs confiscated by law enforcement officers.

These charges will allow for the State to seize property ranging from intangible personal property, such as any cash, securities bank accounts, copyrights and/or trademarks owned by the individual defendants, to tangible property such as cars, jewelry and/or boats, to any real estate owned by the defendants. All tangible assets and real estate seized are subject to sale as provided for by law.

Each defendant is currently being held with bond set at $500,000 each. Attorneys for the defendants have filed motions requesting a modification of the bond order prior to trial. The motions are set to be heard on Thursday, Oct. 15, at 9 a.m. in district court.
