The Linn County Sheriff’s Department received several calls last Thursday morning of a semi driving erratically southbound on 69 Hwy. According to witnesses Jonathan and Brianna Watson, Linn Valley, the semi almost hit a bridge abutment near the La Cygne exit. It proceeded south and swerved into both lanes of traffic. Watson said at one time, a car passed the semi, almost causing an accident. He followed the semi that then exited 69 Hwy. at 1100 Rd. in Pleasanton.
Watson said it looked like the driver, Joseph A. Kizzia, 63 from Warner, Okla. was trying to slow down to stop, but then went through the stop sign and accelerated back on the on-ramp. At one point, the semi went off the road on the west side of the on-ramp. The driver tried to correct and swerved, ultimately losing control and rolling the semi near the 69 Hwy. entrance.
