Trading Post Museum visitors will soon see the departure of the museum’s beloved curator, Alice Widner. Born and raised in western Kansas, Widner is retiring after serving over 35 years at the museum. She has enjoyed the opportunity to work and reside at Trading Post, known to be the oldest existing settlement in Kansas.
Widner has played a vital role in archiving and maintaining Linn County’s rich history. Well known in the area for her extensive Trading Post knowledge, many have often relied on her expertise for answers to difficult historical questions. Many visitors sincerely enjoyed hearing Widner’s oral account of written and learned history of the area as they explored the museum.
